Wesley Village Celebrates 2005 "Heroes, Saints and Legends"

Wesley Village Senior Living Community of Wilmore, KY celebrated it's ninth annual Heroes, Saints and Legends Banquet with a record crowd of close to 550 people. Held on October 4th at Lexington's Embassy Suites, Bishop James King and most of the Conference's District Superintendents were among those in attendance. Three special long-time United Methodists "whose vigorous and inspiring lives continue to enrich our church and our world" were honored.

The honorees include: Vivian V. Landrum of Harrodsburg (best known for her outstanding leadership in many local civic organizations and historic preservation efforts); Billie Jean Osborne of Prestonsburg (visionary founder of the Mountain Arts Center and teacher/mentor to thousands of young Eastern KY musicians); and Albin C. Whitworth (seminary professor, acclaimed composer, concert pianist, and Church Director of Music and Organist for Lexington's First United Methodist Church).

Bishop for the North Carolina Annual Conference, Alfred W. Gwinn, Jr., provided inspiration with the keynote address. All proceeds from the evening go towards completion of Wilmore's Senior Community Center at Wesley Village.
