With a large cordoned area marking the work area, a Congleton-Hacker contractor's trailer, and several gigantic earthmovers for churning up the ground, excitement increases. Great mounds of dirt are appearing on the site and we look forward to foundations rising soon.
Congleton-Hacker built the second phase of our health-care center, Hager Manor. They worked quickly and well and within their projected time frame. The contractor tells us we will have our center by the end of this year.
The Wilmore Senior Community Center will be unique in this town. The center will serve both residents of the Village and of the community. A large dining room with adjustable areas for small or large groups, and a small dining room for private functions, will be a part of the center. There will be an adjoining area with a stage, designed for meetings such as lectures, music performances, entertainments, worship services and private functions. Our growing library will be housed in an appropriately designed area along with a computer lab.
An exercise room, an arts and crafts studio and several offices will be suitably located.
The project is under way now because of some major gifts as well as many smaller private ones. The largest gift was a grant from the state in the amount of $1 million, thanks to the cooperation and significant assistance of Wilmore Mayor, Harold Rainwater, and the Wilmore City Council. This represents a part of the project for which we are all very appreciative.
